New features: leagues and notifications

about 2 months agoKjetil Hårtveit - Founder

We recently dropped a couple of new features: leagues and notifications! 🎉

Leagues

You can now create custom leagues with your your friends or fellow snooker fans. You can choose who can join your league; be it only those you invite, those you approve to join or let everyone who wants to join automatically.

It's time to prove you're more knowledgable than John and definitely better at predicting. Claim the bragging rights in your group by winning your league!

You can read more about leagues in the docs.

Notifications

You will receive notifications when notable events happen like when you're invited to a league or someone has responded to one of your invites. Although the feature is mainly used for leagues at the moment, we could (and will) use it for other things in the future.

Notifications
You can navigate to your notifications via the main menu.

Limitations (lack of e-mail notifications)

Although the league feature is shipped and ready to use, we are aware of some limitations in the current version. Ideally we'd like you to receive notifications on e-mail, however that would require us to also implement an admin panel where you could administrate your e-mail settings. We also have a limited amount of emails we can send per day due to our current plan with our email provider. We could of course decide to upgrade the plan, however it's a decision we have not yet made (please show consideration as this is currently a free game with no sources of income).

Thus if you are creating an invite-only league with your friends then we recommend that you let them know you've invited them as they won't receive an e-mail notification.

Current standings

Last season's winner Mitch and his team Up The Ives are holding steady and maintains the lead after the Northern Ireland Open. Can anyone catch him (see the current standings on the ranking page)?

Well now is a good time to build your dream team ⭐ and make a move as some important tournaments are coming up! Just in a couple of days on Sunday the 3rd of November the International Championship (B-tier) kicks off. Immediately after follows another B-tier tournament in the Champion of Champions (short transfer window alert). Following that is the first triple-crown event of the season in the UK Championship (A-tier! 👑).

Final thoughts

As always we have many ideas but unfortunately limited available development time. We always strive to improve and create a good, fun game for y'all.
