Intro
¶Fantasy Snooker is a free game where you build a team of snooker players and score points based on how well they do in actual tournaments.
When you start you have a limited amount of money you can use to buy players. The top players are more likely to score more points, but are more costly. Choose wisely.
Compare yourself to other players and see how you rank. Or you can play for yourself. It's up to you how you want to play.
You can also create or join custom leagues. Claim the bragging rights in your group by winning your league!
Getting started
¶Create an account: the first thing you need to play is an account. Simply sign in with a login method of your preferred choice and an account will automatically be created (if it doesn't already exist). You may want to fill out your profile before proceeding.
Create a team (per season): before competing you must create a team for the season. Choose whatever name you like (it can be changed later) but please keep it civil.
Build initial lineup: you're now finally ready to build your lineup of hopefuls. The players available are the same real players competing on the main tour for that season. They are valued based on their performances in the last two seasons, thus a high value tend to reflect recent strong performances. However, your resources are limited so you're adviced to choose strategically. Don't forget to promote your strongest player(s) e.g. to Captain so that they gain bonus points.
Note: if there's an on-going tournament you must unfortunately wait until it has been played and processed.
Scoring: your team is scored based on the real performances by your chosen players. Only certain tournaments yield points and usually the player must make the venue to score points (so usually not qualification rounds). See the calendar for eligible tournaments and you can also view individual tournaments to see how the points are distributed per round.
Transfer windows: you are able to change your lineup between tournaments; that means you can make changes to the lineup in preparation for the next tournament after the last tournament has been played. You may change it in any way you want, just like when you built your initial lineup (buy, sell, promote, demote players etc.), the only rule is that you can only buy a maximum of 3 players after every round. This means that you could potentially sell your entire team - but you would still be limited to max 3 purchases.
Tournament tiers
¶The amount of points possible to gain from a tournament are weighted by a tier system. The most prestigious events like The World Championship are in tier S, following that is tier A, B and so on.
Here are the point modifiers per tournament tier:
- Tier S: +125% points gained
- Tier A: +75% points gained
- Tier B: +33% points gained
- Tier C: normal
- Tier D: -50% points gained
You can find a list of the tournaments in the current/upcoming season and their respective tiers in the calendar.
Player roles
¶- Captain (max 1): receives 25% more points.
Tip: make sure you always utilize all available roles (e.g. captain) in your team.
Point and value calculations
¶A snooker player's value is based on the points the player has accumulated in the calculation period. The total calculation period is roughly 2 years and 1 month from the completion of the last tournament. Points from completed tournaments within 1 year and 1 month is given a recency bonus of 100%.
All snooker players share a pool of £1000.00m and a player's value corresponds to their share of the accumulated pool of points.
Tip: it's possible to increase the total value of your team beyond the initial £120.00m if your players perform well and increase in value. You can take advantage of the added value and build an even stronger lineup!
Leagues
¶Leagues allows you to compete against a smaller group; be it your friends or other fellow snooker fans. A league has its own ranking table containing the members of the league but points are earned in the same way as for the official rankings.
The league owner (creator) can configure properties on the league like name and description. The owner also decides how other Fantasy Snooker players can join the league and he/she has the power to kick members.
A league can have one of the following join methods:
- Open for all: Everyone can join this league.
- Approval needed: Approval needed to join this league.
- Invite only: An invite from the owner is required to join this league.
